Zalacsány between Landscape and History
Zalacsány connects landscape and history through clearly distinct local references. The wider Zala landscape forms the setting for a planned golf course landscape; archaeological traces lie near the village at the present-day Zalacsányi-patak. The golf course complex also includes a wellness building that is intended to be opened to external guests as well. The golf course areas and the opening of the wellness building are planned, while the fortification from the period of Ottoman rule serves as a historical reference to Zalacsány.
Archaeological Traces at the Zalacsányi-patak
Near Zalacsány, archaeological traces of a fortified structure from the period of Ottoman rule were found beside the Kettős-patak. The watercourse is now called the Zalacsányi-patak; the former and present names refer to the same stream. The historic fortification was a palisade fort with rondels and a bastion. It was also connected to a small castle, which was presumably the manor house of the Csányi family. The rondels and bastion belonged to the palisade fort; the small castle was connected to the fortification.
Golf Course Landscape in the Zala Landscape
The golf course landscape of Zalacsány lies within the wider Zala landscape. It is gently hilly and includes partly natural and largely planned areas. The golf course is considered a central element of the Zalacsány site and forms an outer ring around the central buildings. This ring can be walked. When planning a walk around the complex, the walkable outer ring serves as a concrete spatial orientation between the central buildings. The gently hilly landscape accompanies this outer route with natural and planned sections. The central buildings form the inner reference point of the ring structure, while the golf course marks the outer area. The partly natural and largely planned design remains part of the same landscape; the ring connects the building area with the rest of the golf course grounds. This creates a route for visualizing the site that runs from the central building area via the walkable golf course ring into the wider landscape.
Wellness Building at the Golf Course Complex
The wellness building is another planned component of the golf course complex. Its planned opening explicitly includes guests from outside. Wellness thus complements the golf course plans with a second planned element at the Zalacsány site.

The Gyöngyösi Csárda is located in the area surrounding Zalacsány. Csányi Hegy is situated in the immediate vicinity of Zalacsány. Tátika and Fekete-Kastély are located in the wider regional area. Köves-tető and Edericsi-hegy are also situated in this wider regional area. Csillagvár and Szigliget vár likewise belong to this larger regional area. The Gyöngyösi Csárda remains associated with the surrounding area, while Csányi Hegy is closer to Zalacsány and the six other destinations are located in the wider regional area.
