Lake Balaton is Siófok’s most important natural treasure. Siófok can be explored through a range of specific destinations: culture, nature observation, water activities and routes for active days are just as much part of the townscape as special places for a short excursion. This creates a varied basis for planning a stay by the lake.
Culture and Designed Spaces
Siófok’s Mineral Museum displays around 3,000 minerals in 54 display cases across five exhibition rooms. The exhibition therefore offers a clearly defined cultural point of interest within the town.
Jókai Park has a small pond and a Japanese garden. Both elements give the park a distinctive character and provide a tranquil accent among Siófok’s attractions.
Siófok’s water tower was built in 1912. After its renovation in 2012, a rotating observation platform was opened in Siófok’s water tower. The building therefore represents both the history of the town and a later change in its use.
Siófok’s Rose Garden has a musical and illuminated fountain. Music and lighting are part of the fountain’s described appearance there.
Harbour, Canal and Cycle Paths
Siófok harbour offers sightseeing, music and round trips by boat. Anyone wishing to discover the lake through a boating experience will find several different types of trip here.
A public BAHART passenger service connects the BAHART harbour in Siófok with Balatonfüred. Balatonfüred is therefore a destination that can be reached from Siófok via this connection.
The Sió Canal offers opportunities for water sports such as kayaking and canoeing in Siófok. This complements the harbour’s activities with options on the water.
The renovated cycle paths in Siófok offer suitable routes for both beginners and experienced cyclists. The different experience levels provide a helpful point of reference when selecting a suitable route.
Nature in the Törek Nature Reserve
The nature trail in the Törek Nature Reserve provides insights into the wildlife of lakes, wetlands, different forests and meadows. The landscape can thus be experienced through several different habitats.
The Törek Nature Reserve has a birdwatching tower from which the local birdlife can be observed. The tower directs attention to the birds of the area.
The complete hike along the nature trail in the Törek Nature Reserve is 8.5 km long. This provides a specifically designated longer route for day planning.
Water and Animal Experiences
The DRV Vizek Háza Experience Park offers interactive activities centred around water, including a water course, a bicycle-powered fountain and the construction of a water pipeline. Water is presented there through various practical and playful stations.
Bella Animal Park offers guided camel rides as well as rides and equestrian experiences with ponies and large horses. The offering therefore ranges from camels to horses of various sizes and types.
The route of the Kékszalag sailing regatta passes through Siófok. The town is therefore also connected with a well-known sailing event on Lake Balaton.
Other places on Lake Balaton: Badacsonytördemic, Vonyarcvashegy, Felsőörs, Balatonudvari, Ábrahámhegy, Vindornyalak, Balatonakarattya.
