Kőröshegy: Tulip Blooms, Lavender and Culture
Accommodation in Kőröshegy
At Kőröshegy Tulip & Lavender Park, two blooming seasons give a stay in Kőröshegy a distinct seasonal focus: tulip fields define spring, while lavender fields mark summer. The exact timing of the blooms varies from year to year. So if you are choosing the destination for a particular experience, plan your trip around the bloom you want to see rather than a fixed calendar date. This lets you factor the seasonal highlights into your choice of accommodation from the outset.

Blooming Season and Harvest Experiences
In spring, colorful tulip fields bloom in the park. Visitors can pick fresh tulips themselves and make a bouquet to take home. In summer, the fragrant lavender fields take center stage. During the lavender harvest, there are also syrup and jam tastings. This program is tied to the harvest season; for future dates, it is advisable to check with the operator. The activities also differ: when picking tulips, you make a bouquet; during the lavender harvest, tastings are offered. Children and dogs are welcome in the park.

By car from Budapest, reach the park via exit 121 on the M7 toward Balatonföldvár. Free parking is available at the entrance. As route details can change, check the directions before you leave. By bicycle, the route runs from the turnoff on Dózsa-György Street into Persevölgyi dűlő, ending at the bicycle racks by the entrance. By public transport, take the train to Balatonföldvár and then the bus to the Kőröshegy–Csárda stop. Services can change, so check the current timetable before travelling. The routes described differ mainly in the mode of transport and the final part of the journey.
Church, Concerts and Castle History
The protected Szent-Kereszt Parish Church in Kőröshegy was built at the end of the 15th century and formerly belonged to the Franciscans. Concerts are held there in summer. If a concert is important to your trip, check the dates for your planned stay. This allows you to take the summer cultural event into account when planning your trip without confusing it with the seasonal blooming experiences.
The history of the house is the focus at Széchenyi Castle in Kőröshegy. After its renovation, it housed, among other things, an exhibition room, memorial rooms dedicated to Széchenyi Zsigmond and a library. This former use adds another historical aspect of the destination to its church and concert history.
Fishponds and Fishing
The Völgyhídi fishpond system, covering almost 5.5 hectares, is located on the castle estate, which spans 32 hectares. It has been restored to its original condition and welcomes anglers. This adds a distinct option for visitors interested in the ponds and fishing to the seasonal park activities and cultural attractions.
Consider which of these experiences you want to shape your stay, and take the relevant bloom, harvest or event dates into account.
