Two circular routes start at the Tourinform office in Gyenesdiás, but differ considerably in duration and difficulty. The Family Circular Route is 8.6 kilometres long, takes two hours, has 350 metres of elevation gain and is rated easy. The Darnay-Dornyai-Béla Memorial Trail connects lookout towers in the Keszthely Hills. It is 16.7 kilometres long, with an additional 8.2-kilometre option, and is rated challenging. The Nature House Visitor Centre focuses on the wildlife and natural features of the Keszthely Hills. The centre also offers themed programmes featuring talks, quizzes and activities in the activity room. The neighbouring Festetics Imre Wildlife Park covers 4.2 hectares and offers close encounters with wild and domestic animals.

Kűmell is a nearly 30-metre-high, divided dolomite rock outcrop rising directly above Gyenesdiás. The rocky area is difficult for people to access. For a different kind of outdoor experience, Nagymező has built fire pits, tables, benches, a football pitch and a shelter. The Festetics Lookout Tower, located there, was rebuilt in 2000; its panorama extends from Keszthely Bay to the ridges of the Keszthely Hills, cut through by valleys.

Aquatika also combines views with practical cycling facilities: its rooftop serves as an observation terrace overlooking Balaton and Keszthely Bay. The cycling rest stop and charging station includes a bike rack for twelve bicycles, three outdoor charging points and a bicycle service station.

Cultural sites and regional cuisine

The Diási Watermill complex was fully renovated by 2021. It houses a bakery museum, the Festetics Herb Garden and a herbarium. At Pásztorház, visitors can explore a traditional farmhouse furnished with items from the interwar period, take craft classes using a working oven, and visit an archaeological exhibition. The exhibition focuses on an Avar military leader whose grave had remained undisturbed until it was excavated, as well as finds from the Keszthely culture.

The site of the Nepomuki Szent János spring and monument includes a statue erected in 1828 and restored during the spring’s renovation in 2000. Darnay Pince is a wooden wine cellar dating from 1644, preserved from the period of Ottoman rule and considered an outstanding example of vernacular architecture. Visitors can sample wines from the surrounding area and local dishes at Darnay Pince and the event barn.
