Balatonbereny village is located on the farthest part of the south shore of Lake Balaton (relative to Budapest). Balatonbereny history begins in the distant 1121. The first written mention about Balatonbereny was found in the documents about the foundation of Almadi monastery, which were dated precisely this year. But as a recreation place, with its magnificent beaches, Balatonbereny resort appears in history since 1881, when it was found by count József Hunyadi.

Since that date Balatonbereny village has become a popular place for those, who like quite relaxation or recreation with small children. In case of bad weather, tourists, who stay in Balatonbereny, will have a chance to visit nearby thermal resorts: Heviz and Zalakaros. It is possible to stay either in the hotel or in the private sector – house or cottage; there is also a camping available for the tourists.

Increasing number of Balatonbereny resort visitors has lead to broadening of the offered services range and improving of the service quality. And that in its turn has lead to tributary even of the bigger number of tourists not only from Hungary, but the foreigners, who likes to travel.

Vacationers can swim or sunbathe right on the shore of Lake Balaton. On the beach you will find numerous traditional and fast-food restaurants, children swimming pool, various sports grounds and places where you can rent a catamaran or a boat. Beauty shop, confectionery and currency exchange are situated in the main building on the beach. Beach season in Balatonbereny lasts from June 1 till September 30.

Balatonbereny offers tourists a unique nudist beach, which can be found in the vicinity of the main Balatonbereny beach. This nudist beach is surrounded by reeds and offers 1600 places for recreation. To make recreation more convenient, vacationers are offered the restaurant and supermarket, rent of different sport equipment and other opportunities for doing sports. Introductory season at this beach is open from May 15 till September 15.

Balatonbereny population is about 1200 citizens, but during summer holidays the overall amount of people staying at Balatonbereny reaches 4000. At their disposal there are 7 supermarkets, numerous traditional and fast-food restaurants, pubs and wine cellars. And those, who prefer active rest, can take advantage of a tennis court, riding horses, going fishing or cycling.

It will be interesting for those tourists, who like hiking, to visit a church, built in 1443, walk along the hills with vineyards, where a wonderful view of a lake can be observed.
